When I first bought the domain name neilarmstrong.de in 1996, it was to make it easier for my elderly grandfather to e-mail me in Germany rather than using the string of random numbers and characters that made up my e-mail address at the time. Obviously, I'd love to own neilarmstrong.com or neilarmstrong.co.uk, but they're already registered.

Of course, not all domain names are already registered - but as easy to remember real words and names become increasingly unavailable, it really is worthwhile getting the name you want, now.
